We are sad to announce we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2022 Summer Arts Market.
The Summer Arts Market was due to take place at Liverpool Cathedral on Saturday 4 June 2022, over the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend.
We are very grateful to the hundreds of talented artists and creators who we work with annually and help us to make the Arts Markets what they are every year. Our aim at Open Culture is to provide artists, designers, creators and makers, across all art forms, with the best possible market platform to sell their work directly to the public.
One of our main concerns with the date clash of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend is that attendance could be hugely affected by people’s plans for the long weekend, which would affect stallholders’ much needed income.
We have tried hard to find another suitable date in the Cathedrals busy calendar, but sadly it’s just not possible. Plus suitable other available space continues to be at a premium in Liverpool as we emerge from the pandemic, and so after much consideration we’ve decided we do not want to compromise the level of service we offer our stallholders. The past 2 years have been hard enough!
But in other more upbeat news, are you aware of another of Open Culture’s projects, Uncover Liverpool? It’s a free to use arts and culture website that profiles the latest arts news, events, resources, call outs, jobs and opportunities across Merseyside. Every Monday we send out a What’s On Bulletin from UncoverLiverpool.com sharing all the exciting creative activity across the region. You can sign up to receive our bulletin straight to your inbox here. Or why not follow Uncover Liverpool on Facebook. Twitter and Instagram. Have you got arts and culture events that need promotion?
